Simple app, needs 2 things: 1: hot key to activate the dissaperance of desktop icons 2: the desktop stops to change every X time periode set in system settings when youve set the desktop items to not show. If you flip the switch mid-transition of desktop background, itll freez that way, a hybrid of two pictures as a desktop background. overall: stupid app.

The app does what is advertised. I click hide and all of my items are hidden. Cleans up my desktop and hides my network harddrive and time machine back ups. works perfectly.

It doesnt work. I click hide desktop and it doesnt do anything… I guess its free for a reason.

When swiping to other Desktops icons are always displayed but then have to be hidden again.

Does exactly what it does which is hide desktop icons. One thing I suggest would be to maybe assign a hotkey shortcut for showing and hiding icons. Also Im not sure if this is a bug or by design but when I hide the icons, the top of secondary display(which in this case is my macbook pro screen) gets a slightly gray transparent effect. looks like the shadow effect arround windows.

This is a pretty decent app. Ive been searching for apps that would hide the desktop icons. Theres a TUAW Post on how to do it by changing options on finder and then restarting finder. I was going to write a simple app to wrap the process and started to search for apps that might already do that. I came across HiddenMe and honestly, it works. Its dead simple, but it works. If its possible, it would be neat to see it support multiple desktops (not sure you can). I would like to see hot keys added natively. Send feedback doesnt seem to work. The links for support and the website as listed in the store are both dead.

Nice way to clean up the desktop and show that awesome wallpaper. With a simple click on the status bar theyre gone and with another click they reappear.

Does one thing and does it perfectly. One-button show/hide for desktop icons is perfect for webinar screen sharing and presentations.

Cant use this because it also hides geek tool.

HiddenMe version 1.0.4 does not work on Mavericks.

This app works flawlessly and is a set to launch at startup since I use my desktop to save project files. Only thing its missing is the ability to strike a hot key at anytime on an screen to hide the icons immediatly incase confidential material is on the desktop. Please please add this feature and this app would be the PERFECT UTILITY!

There is a bug if you have different backgrounds on different spaces where it makes all backgrounds have the same wallpaper when hiding icons. Turns back to normal when unhiding. Also I’m not sure why this is happening but right now, whenever I switch spaces. Until I get to the final position where the space covers the whole screen the icons are hidden and only appear (without fade) once it’s there. Would be awesome if these could be fixed in the next update.

Love it when I have ad hoc meetings around my desk, to hide the clutter and focus on the presented thing, along with hiding the dock.

Thank you so much! I am an online instructor and needed a quick way to hide my desktop icons for screen recordings. This is just perfect!

The main reason to hide icons is to better see the background and the main reason to have differing backgrounds is to differentiate desktops. This app defaults ALL desktop backgrounds to whatever one you activate the app from, so kind of defeats the purpose

Does what it says well and quickly. However, no hotkey to trigger hiding the icons. A hotkey is critical in an app like this, so I’m afraid I can only give it 3 stars. If a future version adds a hotkey trigger (and allows us to define whatever keys we want) I will rate it a full 5 stars.
